TITLE:  Noggin
AUTHOR: John Corey Whaley
PUBLISHER:  Atheneum Books for Young Readers

The plot of this book is so confusing, but fascinating.  Sixteen year old Travis Coates was riddled with disease, and he was going to die eventually. But he decided to undergo a procedure where his head was frozen, then attached to a Jeremy Pratt's body. Travis wakes up five years later, with his new body, soon finding out that everything and everybody has changed.

Travis has to adjust to his life again, always being a few steps behind others. His friend Kyle, and his girlfriend Cate are now 21 years old, while he is stuck behind as a teenager. Travis has to go back to school, but he meets new people and has a strong bond with a boy called Hatton. Travis finds something out about Cate, which will change his plans for the future. How will Travis act when his family and close friends are keeping secrets from him? How will he come back into Cate's life again?

I loved the friendships Travis had: especially with Hatton. Also, one of the finishing sentences of each chapter would be the title for the next one. I thought that was a nice touch. The cover and title really appealed to me, and once reading the blurb I had to buy it!

John Corey Whaley has a unique writing style, and it is very thought provoking. It is amazing how he could think up the idea for the book, as it is a very complex. Noggin explores themes such as: love, divorce, being gay, friendship and hardship. I rate this novel 5/5 hoots: it is very moving, and a nice summer read. I will be looking out for some more of John Corey Whaley's books.
