"I'm 26. I was born and raised in New Jersey, but I'm now living in Burbank, California. I went to Montclair State University, where I majored in Anthropology and minored in Film. I'm currently working on the sequel to Lionhead, Requiem, which should be released later this year."

The Serenity Compound

Q. How did you get the inspiration to write "Lionhead?"
"I grew up reading Harry Potter, like most kids my age, so I think that really stuck with me when forming the plot of Lionhead, I wanted to write a book for middle grade readers and young adults that had a similar impact and I wanted to write a book for middle grade readers and young adults that had a similar impact and I wanted to write something fun- a story about friendship, family and love. I also wanted to capture some of the awkward feelings that accompany growing up, even if it's a fantasy novel."

Q. How did you get the inspiration to write "The Serenity Compound?"
A. "The Serenity Compound formed from my attempt at writing a strong female character that other young women can relate to. I was sort of getting sick of what other stories classified as a feminist character, so I wanted to take my own swing at it and tackle some of those issues head on. The plot of The Serenity Compound ultimately came from a dream I had about the world ending. It felt so real I had to turn it into a story."

Q. Have you always wanted to write since you were a child?
A. "I started writing when I was in 2nd grade. A friend had supplies that let us put together our own books and I sort of fell in love with it at that point. I always liked reading, so telling my own stories always felt like an exciting step I had to take."

Q. What is your favourite book, and who is your favourite author?
A. "I love the Ender's Game series, The Beach and Lord of the Rings. I really look up to Alex Garland because he's an author and a screenwriter and I just admire his career. I also love Stephen King and what he has to say about writing in general. He's probably one of the most inspirational authors to me."

QWhat is the strangest thing you have ever eaten?
A. "I don't eat many strange things, so now I'm a little disappointed in myself! I will try mostly anything, so I guess I should start experimenting."

Q. If you could bring one character to life from your favourite book, who would it be?
A. "Probably Ender Wiggin! I love how he was written and the journey he takes throughout the Ender's Game series. There's just something so interesting about him. Either him or Gandalf..."

Q. If you could be any age again for one week, what would age would you be?
A. "If I could back to 5th grade for a week, I think I would do that. I feel like that's my least stressful option and I'd probably have some fun."

Q. If you could have one super power, which would you choose?
A. "I think I would like to read minds, but I'd also like to be able to turn it off. Sometimes you just want to know what someone really thinks, but I wouldn't want to have to deal with that all the time."
