TITLE:  Awoken
AUTHOR: Sarah Noffke
PUBLISHER:  One-Twenty-Six Press
RATING:  4/5

"Around the world humans are hallucinating after sleepless nights. In a sterile, underground institute the forecasters keep reporting the same events. And in the backwoods of Texas, a sixteen-year-old girl is about to be caught up in a fierce, ethereal battle. Meet Roya Stark. She drowns every night in her dreams, spends her hours reading classic literature to avoid her family’s ridicule, and is prone to premonitions—which are becoming more frequent. And now her dreams are filled with strangers offering to reveal what she has always wanted to know: Who is she? That’s the question that haunts her, and she's about to find out. But will Roya live to regret learning the truth?"

An average 16 year old teenager, called Roya Stark, has her whole word turned upside down- when a visitor in her dreams tells her a very important piece of information. Roya is able to dream travel, and she is approached by a group called the Lucidities, who can do amazing things in their dreams. Roya has to risk her life, to fight a horrible antagonist, named Zhuang- I really enjoyed how the reader is thrown in at the deep end at the beginning of, "Awoken." But will Roya complete her missions? Is she destined for her fate?

Roya is a very relatable character- a teenager that just wants to normal- young adults can really empathise with her personality- all of the characters have really been developed really well. The plot of the novel is very well thought out; ideas being weaved into a brilliant, fast paced story line.  The reader takes a deep breath at the first page- then being buried into the book- and not taking a breath until the end. There are fabulous twists- and you see discrete friendships and romances forming between certain characters in the novel.

"Awoken," is a unique Sci-Fi, Fantasy and YA novel- with a very interesting concept- that is very different to other books I have read. Sarah Noffke is one of those authors with a writing style that readers grow to love- she is definitely an author I know I will be hearing more of in the future! I rate the book 4/5 hoots- it did take me a while to comprehend the plot. But this is a minor thing- overall I really liked the novel- I especially loved the main characters.
