TITLE: Unboxed
AUTHOR: Non Pratt
PUBLISHER:  Barrington Stoke
RATING:  5/5

Unboxed is about four teenagers who come together after several months apart. In previous years, they had put together a time capsule about their best summer with a friend who was dying. Now that their friend has passed, they reunite to open the box.
Unboxed is a brilliant book to read, and will easily lift you out of your reading slump. It has a short timescale of one evening, but what makes this book so special is how attached you become to the characters in this short time. I adored the whole friendship group, and the letters that they were reading were so poignant, it released emotions in me that I didn't know I had.

Alix, Ben, Zara and Dean reunite after spending months apart, to open a time capsule about their best summer that they had made a few years before. However, their friend Millie, who was also in the big friendship group, wasn't at the meeting as she died from cancer. In fact, she was the person who wanted everyone else to meet up again, so they could read letters to their future selves. But the letters contain secrets that everyone wants to hide and keep to themselves.

I loved the whole concept of Unboxed, even down to the short chapter names. The characters had a trait that everyone could relate to and empathise with, the plot was full to the brim for such a short book, and it was beautiful on the inside and out.

Another brilliant thing about Unboxed is that is was made to encourage more people to read. It has black text with a yellow page background and a dyslexia friendly font- which can be extremely helpful to people who can't read as well as others. I think it is fantastic that Unboxed has been designed so carefully, as everyone should be able to be captivated by a novel and discover the magic of reading. An easy 5/5- Unboxed was one of the most moving novels I have read this year, and is a perfect refreshing length.
